The Company
TrakitGPS is a FiveCubits business unit. The company is privately held and is backed by the premier private equity firm, Element Partners. TrakitGPS is based in Draper, UT, located just outside of Salt Lake City. We provide GPS-based fleet and mobile asset tracking systems to over 150 producers of ready mix concrete, aggregates, asphalt, and cement operating across the United States and Canada.
Our Mission
To create extraordinary economic value for both our customers and our shareholders through the provision of very best in class location-based-systems managing fleets, high value mobile equipment, and drivers engaged in the production and delivery of bulk construction materials.
Our History
Trakit was established in 2002 as a product line within Facilities Management Engineering, Inc., a provider of facilities maintenance management software. Trakit’s first product was a custom WAP application developed for a major producer of ready mix concrete to replace the costly “status heads” on their vehicles.
In 2003 the Company released its first GPS-based, web-hosted, signaling, messaging, payroll, and reporting solution, tailored specifically for producers of bulk construction materials.
In 2006, Trakit was purchased by BMG Controls, Inc. All Trakit employees were retained and the company continued to operate as an autonomous business unit under the BMG Controls umbrella.
Product extensions and enhancements have continued including a new more intuitive user interface, a major upgrade to the time & attendance module, the addition of a satellite based asset tracking module, new integrated ticket functionality, and many other improvements—all driven by suggestions from our customer base.
Our Culture
Excellence through Focus. We know we can’t be great at everything. Excellence requires expertise and expertise can only be achieved through focused learning, investment, and innovation. At Trakit, our focus is economic value producing web-based solutions to location-related problems/opportunities within the bulk construction materials industry.
One Team. There are no “walls” at Trakit, literally or figuratively, between departments, or between management and other employees. Collectively we fully embrace participative planning, open-book management, and the sharing of accountability for results.
Customer Engagement. It is a rare day that any Trakit employee completes work without a direct conversation with a customer or prospective customer. We like it that way.
Friendly Competent Service. You won’t get an automated answering service when you call Trakit. We’ll pick up the phone, usually before the third ring, and on our end will be a knowledgeable friendly soul, happy that you called, eager to help.
Best isn’t Good Enough. Without qualification, we at Trakit are confident we offer producers of bulk construction materials the very best value solution to fleet and asset tracking needs available from any supplier anywhere. We also believe best isn’t an end; it is where we start. And then, only through continuous improvement, at a pace and of a quality that materially surpasses our competition, will we continue to enjoy success.
More than Customer-Driven. At Trakit, we strive to do more than simply solicit and respond to customer specific suggestions and requests, though we do plenty of that. We believe that real value creation is more certain to occur when we successfully marry our understanding of our customers’ problems/opportunities with our expertise in our core technologies—and do so in ways that our customers have yet to request or know possible, but in which they immediately recognize advantage.
It IS about the Money. Only by simultaneously making money for both our customers and our shareholders do we remain viable. Every activity, every project, every contract, every prospect, every customer, every investment, and every employee must be rigorously and continuously assessed against those concurrent and mutually dependent goals.
